Red Tint After ColoringUpdated 9 days ago
Issue
Some customers notice that their hair develops a reddish or orangish tint after coloring or over time.
Cause
There are two main reasons this can happen:
Color choice – Using a shade that is too light can cause the underlying pigments in your hair to react with the warmer tones in the dye, resulting in a reddish/orangish appearance. A longer application time of 30-40mins may also lessen the tint.
Warm undertones – Our lighter shades naturally contain some warmth, which can become more noticeable over time.
Other contributing factors include:
Using non–color-safe shampoo and conditioner.
Sun exposure or swimming in chlorinated pools.
Washing with unfiltered water containing chlorine or iron, which can react with the pigments in your hair and cause fading or discoloration.
Solution
Switch to a color-safe shampoo and conditioner to help maintain tone and vibrancy.
Consider going one shade darker, which reduces the likelihood of red/orange tones appearing.
Use a hair-toning shampoo after coloring to neutralize warmer undertones.
Protect your hair from the sun and chlorinated pools.
Use a shower cap or install a shower filter to reduce mineral exposure.
